2023 FE Wrapped

Maciej Gibas

2023 year in review for the Frontend team! 📅

Numbers

Let's start with many interesting, only sometimes meaningful, stats!

Developers

6

Projects

9

This year, we focused much more on delivering value to our clients. As a result, the number of projects our team worked on shrunk from 12 to 9: Bidx, Appia, BidExpress, DocExpress, Signet, ITE, Web Bidding, Zendesk, Causeway

Time

12300h

It was a very busy year; we put lots of hours in! Most importantly, we distributed most of them where they were most needed: Bidx and Causeway.

Bidx
57%
Causeway
29%
Signet
5%
Appia
3%
Web Bidding
3%
Rest
3%

JIRA Cards

394

Commits

1067

The total amount of commits we made to 2 of our main projects last year (Bidx and Causeway).

Projects

It was a busy but focused year, and it paid off.

What happened

Jacob's promotion

Well deserved promotion to Software Architect 🎉

BarCamp GNV

Our team gave 2 talks during BarCamp GNV, and as usual, we had a lot of fun!

Team reunion 🏖

Like last year, we used Hackathon's week to spend as much time together as possible. This time around, we chose Epcot as our retreat destination. Was the food-wine festival a deciding factor? We'll never know! We had a blast though, and made many fantastic memories and bonded even more!

The team

I'm incredibly proud of how this team performed this year! Everyone pulled their weight in their own way, grew tremendously, and exceeded expectations in so many categories! Let's go through a couple important facts:

Marco, Vinnie, Sammy

Anything new you see on bidx.com was implemented by these three! They worked super hard on a new subscription model, most of the time delivering before a deadline. Vinnie took a lot of initiative, preparing and coordinating releases and staying on top of everything on the frontend for Bidx. Sammy shined when it came to meticulous code reviews and finding edge cases before anyone even considered presenting it to the business. Marco took charge of almost a year-long project to refactor and improve how we fetch data in Bidx, enabling us to do impossible things.

Michaela

She was fearless of any project, stack, or task. This year, she worked on almost every ITI Product service. Bugs, maintenance, improvements, Causeway components - her contributions were priceless!

Jacob

If Architecting countless Causeway components, leading the frontend of Web Bidding, solving the weirdest CSS mysteries, and engaging our team with his Frontend challenges wasn't enough, he also decided to claim his Bragging Rights by beating all of us in arm wrestling!

Maciej

Through unanimous support, Maciej was awarded the first-ever Golden Sunglasses award! Because he is "annoyingly humble", I (Jacob) have to add this accolade to the list. If he tries to remove it again, I swear I will delete this repo.

It was a great year, team

Thank you!
