Frontend Challenges - in Spirit
Here's the thing. Learning new things is hard. Finding the motivation, time, and resources to advance your skills is draining — not to mention lonely! Professional development always seems to take a back seat to other "priorities".
Well have we got some exciting news for you! Starting this week, the frontend team will be competing/collaborating in bi-weekly (every other week (for now)) challenges!
In an effort to make professional development more collaborative, engaging, and pointed, we'll be coming up with bite-sized challenges that let us flex our creativity and skills. Each team member will have the opportunity to research and learn at their preferred speed, while sharing a common deadline for submissions. We'll be accountable to each other, and the bi-weekly nature of the challenges will help foster a habit of learning.
At the end of the challenge, we'll have an opportunity to show off our results in the form of a Codepen. The goal is not to compare ourselves to each other, but to grow in a friendly, safe, and constructive environment. Every person on our team has different and unique strengths. This is a place to showcase those strengths while learning and exploring new things.
The submissions will be aggregated in their challenge's blog, where they will live in perpetuity.
